Open Office Writer

Post by scottmercer »

HELP !!!

I use Writer, and I like it fine! I do text articles, numbers and business cards, etc. The all look good and serve my purpose.I save them in different files, and retrieve them from time to time.
THEN, THE NEXT TIME I TRY TO RETRIEVER THEM, THE DOCUMENTS WILL NOT OPEN . . . I GET A DROP DOWN WINDOW THAT SAYS . . . .
" Microsoft Windows

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. ". . . . . . . . I never hear from Wiondows (surprise !).

Some documents will open and lots of others will not. After hours creating these documents, and retrieving them for a week of two, then having them unavailable because later is driving me nuts!

Anyone with a solution to this problem would be most kind and considerate if they would advise me of same. And I would be eternally grateful!!

ps: I use a Compaq Presario, new this summer, with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Have you tried running OOo in "compatibility mode"? Have you tried opening the files under Windows XP?

Please read the Survival Guide to the Forum

All questions in this forum should be about Open Office Writer. If you use a more meaningful thread titles such as, "Documents Don't Open in Windows Vista" you're more likely to get the help that you need, and others searching for a solution to the same problem later are much more likely to find this thread.

Bhikkhu is suggesting that you should edit your original post and change the actual title of the thread to something meaningful. Please do that.

Can you post an example of a file that doesn't open for you? Something you don't mind sharing, like a business card.
Cheers!
