Is OpenOffice 4.1.1 compatible with OS X 10.10 Yosimite?

I have just upgraded my OS to Yosemite and OpenOffice does not run. It tries to open with a dialog about restoring previous windows, but does not respond to selection of either choice. Basically just hangs. Bummer, as 4.1.1 was working very well with the last OS.

I haven't upgraded to Yosemite yet but that sounds like this old bug.Try this:

You need to delete the folder "org.openoffice.script.savedState". It is in the "Saved Application State" folder in your User/Library.

See this post on the user forum for detailed instructions: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=55755#p244931

Known bug listed in the release notes, with solution for the problem.

That certainly seems to have solved the problem! Quick trials with spreadsheets and text docs look great. Many thanks for the quick and accurate response!

I have personally not seen any issues, be it with limited office use, using OpenOffice in Yosemite throughout the beta period and now final version.

The only odd thing I have so far, using Yosemite 's full screen option produces a white bar on top.

I do find it confusing, that if you are in a full screen version of any of the apps, that for instance help will launch full screen too in front of your work piece. So you then have to reorient yourself as to find what you're working on and/or close help.

I upgraded to OS x Yosimite and the problem popped up. I had downloaded an upgraded version of OpenOffice on a prompt from software update. I have deleted the folder in Saved Application State the concerned OpenOffice folder. It is still not working
I am getting a following window. In Mac App Store OpenOffice does not show for download. All previous versions were installed from links on the site of Apache Open Office.

Please if some one can guide it would be wonderful as this is the only software being used by me for documents.
Thanks in advance

A search of the Forum would have found many threads that have a solution to your problem. As would reading the release notes for OpenOffice.

The cause of the your problem is GateKeeper.
