Printing multiple pages on one page over entire sheet

Post by caroldawn »

I created a spreadsheet that is only 1 column and lists my movie library. I want to print 4 columns to a page. My problem is when I tell it to print 4 pages on 1 page it shrinks the 4 pages down to a microscopic font that I can't read when there is PLENTY of blank space on the page. I want to FILL the entire page. I want the movie count # and the grid, it just looks better than a plain word document. Does anyone know how I can do this? I have spent hours and hours trying to make this happen. I'm using Windows 7 and an HP printer wirelessly. Funny thing is I have another spreadsheet that I created for something else it has 4 columns of info and it prints fine. I have crossed over all the settings and they are all the same. I've even deleted the text in the one that does right and replaced it with my movie list hoping to keep the same settings, doesn't work. Please help, TIA

Greetings and welcome to the community forum!

Sorry, I don't think there's any way to have Calc do this.

The best workaround is to copy/paste the content into OO Writer and set the page layout to four columns (or whatever number you need). When you paste into Writer, you'll want to use Edit > Paste Special and select one of "Formatted Text", "HTML" or "Unformatted Text". The first two generate a table; the last one plain text. They should all work for just one column but you may prefer one more than another.

Thank you for answering my question. I'll do it with the Writer program as you suggested. I guess it has something to do with it only being 1 column, correct?

Maybe indirectly.

Calc doesn't support printing multiple pages per paper page, and it's not designed to wrap the data to be more efficient at using the page space. It assumes that you have the information laid out the way you want it to appear on paper.

You could manage it by re-arranging your information into multiple columns, but that's a lot of work and would only complicate managing the list (sorting, etc).

I suppose you could change the page layout to a tall, narrow page size, export that to pdf and have the pdf viewer combine the pages on each paper page.

I managed to do it by pretending to OO that my page was an A6 format, no headers or footers, then printing it "4 up" on an A4 paper, sorry for using european paper sizes
