[Solved] Installing German Language pack

Post by RobyV »

I´m pretty desperate.
I´ve downloaded and installed an EN OpenOffice 4.1 on my DE Acer with Win8 and I thought I could easily add language packs for spell checking.
It seems this is NOT the case.
I´ve tried with 2 different package (Frami and Igermann) but with both I have the same issue: cannot select it as active Dictionary from spellchecking window.
I must add I´m pretty experienced with OO (using it since 1.0): I deleted the user profile (and verified that OO created a new one) before any new attempt, tried to reinstall OO, and removed/reinstalled language packs making any possible combination.
Result is always the same: IF the standard English module is active only one of the 4 English ditionaries are selectable, if I make English module inactive from OO Extension Manager, simply no spellchecking happens.
I even have some screens shots about Language settings (everything set to German except interface) but have no way to upload them atm (suggestions welcome).

Thanks in advance.
EDIT: noticed the upload attachment button down here :)
EDIT2: you cannot select the German dictionary both clicking or using arrow keys, it´s there but unselectable

I´ve downloaded the dictionaries from:
http://extensions.services.openoffice.o ... cid=920794
Aren´t they enough?
I thought the language packs would have been needed for the interface language only.
Let me try.

Check the tutorial, especially the screenshots: [Troubleshooting] Spell check in OpenOffice.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 25.2 portable on Windows 11.

I´ve tried the TroubleShooting guide posted by Hagar Delest.
I must say I did already all of the steps listed except the 3° (Paragraph Style Settings): there I just clicked on the Language drop down menu and changed it from there with no succes.
What really I didn´t do (and that SOLVED the issue) was to hit F11 and modify the paragraph font settings from the Stylist (that I didn´t even know it existed!).
Thanks Hagar! :bravo:
