I have tried opening my existing project, which was a power point and converted it over to the open office format, as well as tried creating a slideshow entirely from scratch. Everything looks fine, except when I start the slideshow in fullscreen mode, only the first slide displays correctly. As soon as the slide changes, a portion of the slide displays up against the left side of the screen, a vertical black bar cuts the slide, and the rest of the slide appears to the right of the bar, with a large section of the screen on the right hand side being a larger vertical black bar extending all the way to the right hand side. Part of the information displays on one part of the cut slide, and the other on the other. There are also strange graphical glitches that appear as the slide transitions in and it never displays correctly.
I have a large presentation I am trying to put on tomorrow, and cannot figure out this problem. I have searched the forum all over and not found a single situation of this even appearing. Is it a problem with my operating system and Open Office 4 not playing nicely?

As a shot in the dark you could try resetting your user profile as explained in this tutorial. Also, if you set the slide show to be in the window using the menu Slide Show -> Slide Show Settings -> Window, what happens when you run the slide show

Re: Display problems in slideshow
In window mode, it is slightly laggy, though my computer is fast enough, but it displays otherwise correctly. I'll try resetting my user profile.
Edit: I tried resetting my profile, and unfortunately that did not work. I am also trying to attach a screenshot but unfortunately that isn't working on the forums either. I will post it on a website and include the link.
EDIT2: Here is the image:

Just guessing again, under Tools -> Options -> OpenOffice -> View try changing the Graphics Output settings.

This did work, I disabled hardware acceleration and it works now. My graphics card is an AMD 6970, CPU is a Core i7 920.
