Copy and Paste problem from Web to Writer

I am having a problem and cannot seem to find an answer on the OpenOffice website. If I copy either text, or text and images from a web page, and then try to paste them as Formatted Text into Writer, the program crashes. It says it is sending an error report which never seems to fully happen, and then when I re-open Writer it asks if I want to restore my document. But if I try to paste the text again, the same problem happens.

However, it does not happen if I paste the text as Unformatted Text into Writer. I am using OpenOffice 2.4 and Windows XP, and removing and then reinstalling OpenOffice does not solve the problem. I am wondering if there is a bug in Writer when copying text from the web to Writer as Formatted Text.

There is not a specific website that the problem occurs with. I had it happen with MySpace and various other websites. It seems to suggest its the way in which Writer pastes Formatted Text that causes it to crash. If the website was the problem, it may have still happened even when the text was pasted as Unformatted Text.

I can't seem to replicate the problem at the moment, so perhaps it is an occassional problem with certain websites only. Not to worry, I will just paste as Unformatted Text. Thanks.

I think it is not an isolated problem. It happens to me as well. in my windows version and in the one for Linux (ubuntu hardy).

It seems to work fine for me with Hardy and 2.4.1 (official version), see attachment.
