I have a long series of data ~2300 lines, which is presented in charts of 100 lines each,
My process of adding charts has been to copy the previous one, paste it into a blank area and edit the data ranges . Voila! a NEW CHART.
I have done this many times, but no more frequently than every 100 days.
My problem is that I cannot edit the data ranges in the latest "copy", and if I go back to where I can edit the data ranges, I can't copy the complete chart..........
So I guess the first question is how to COPY a complete chart that is linked to the data in the spreadsheet?
I've done it before and cant make it work.

Re: Copy and Paste charts
Hold down the Ctrl key while you click and drag the chart.
Make sure the chart had not been double clicked before doing this.

Re: Copy and Paste charts
Thanks. On one test it seems to work.
But the process of copy and paste I used to use does not.
I wonder where that shows up in "Help"?

Re: Copy and Paste charts
There are lots of things that don't show up in Help, I think this could be one of them.
I found the Ctrl+Drag method in this forum.
Also, I too used to use the standard copy/paste method with my charts and discovered it stopped working after one of the OpenOffice.org updates. I'm not sure which update though.

Re: Copy and Paste charts
That must be what happened to me, as I used to do it, just copy and paste, then this time it did not work.
I thought I must be having a senior moment and forgot something I used to know.

Re: [Solved] Copy and Paste charts
The Ctrl-Drag workaround is fine to make a copy on the same worksheet. But what about copying a chart to another worksheet?

Re: [Solved] Copy and Paste charts
To answer my own question, it is possible. The general idea is to copy the worksheet that has all the charts to a new worksheet. Then paste the data to be charted into that copied worksheet and adjust each chart's Data Ranges as required.RayZ wrote:The Ctrl-Drag workaround is fine to make a copy on the same worksheet. Re: [Solved] Copy and Paste charts
Scenarios solve it in a different way exchanging the data behind the same chart.
