I'm trying to completely remove OpenOffice from my computer. I'm running XP and ran the uninstall from Remove Programs. The program is no longer active, however there is still a directory, and it still shows up on my start menu. I'm hesitant to simply delete the directory and all associated files as I'm not a computer geek and don't know which files are ok or not ok to delete. How do I completely remove this program and all associated files and references from my computer?
Thanks.
Uninstall??
Re: Uninstall??
If you are completely removing the application it is fine to remove the Start Menu entry as well as the Program Files folder. OpenOffice.org does a pretty good job of not sticking its nose where it doesn't belong.
There is also the user information folder
Normally
C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Application Data\OpenOffice.org2 which can be deleted.
If you want to be absolutlely and completely sure every reference to it is done you can find a Registry cleaner, but that is probably more than enough.
