Err:509 =SUM not staying in caps
Hi
Can someone please help me with this issue I have with open office calc. , Now i have noticed whys its showing err:509 but It wont let me fix it. In my origenal work the formula is =SUM(A1:A9) SUM in caps but when I am making =SUM or opening my files with formulas in this version it makes the =sum into lowercase and shows err: 509. I have tried everything but its not staying in caps
also I have noticed in downloaded version folder it says 3.4.1 but when i got to help>about openoffice.org it shows ver 3.2.1. maybe it isn't installing properly, I did delete all folders when I uninstlled last time.

Re: Err:509 =SUM not staying in caps
Greetings and welcome to the community forum!
You may just have a mangled-up install that's causing the problem, but one other thing to check is Calc's locale (language/location): is it possible that you're using something other than English?
You have to use function names that match your language setting.

Since this is not a typical Windoze program you've got the exact same program every time.
Get a working copy from openoffice.org (and nowhere else!) and rename any existing profile folder before starting the installation process.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Follow Villeroy's advice and also don't worry about the formulae changing case. Be certain that you don't download through any other site but http://www.opemoffice.org. http://www.openoffice.org

That's not the correct site either. It seems like there's a fake site for every typo...RoryOF wrote:Follow Villeroy's advice and also don't worry about the formulae changing case. Be certain that you don't download through any other site buthttp://www.opemoffice.org.
This is the correct site: http://www.openoffice.org/

Some shmuck has registered opeMoffice.org? That's ridiculous.Alex1 wrote:... seems like there's a fake site for every typo...
I'm not sure, but I believe there are rules against such "typo" domains. Maybe we could actually get them shut down?

Not trivial, but maybe worth some effort.
