Lotus Word Pro compatability

Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.

What is your question or comment?
Is it possible to open Lotus Word Pro Documents using OO .
I 've tried but there is an issue with the character set.

No, not possible. The "character set" dialog is what you get when OOo does not recognize the file.

I believe the IBM "Symphony" suite--a derivative of OOo--is able to open WordPro documents.

I tried Symphony but found it buggy and it locked the PC up.
Could I use Symphony to convert the WordPro files and then us OO to convert the Symphony files.

Then apparently not. I found Symphony to be DEADLY slow, but it did read OO files. I don't have Symphony loaded presently; however, what's to stop you from trying yourself?
