Sort parm in queries not reappearing when reopened

Hello. I'm new to the product so its probably me.
I am using oo 3.4.1 on a mac osx 10.7.5.
When i create a query in design mode and add a sort parameter and run the query the data is sorted properly.
After saving the query and re-running it the data still seems to be sorted properly.
When I re-open the query in design mode however the sort parm is NOT showing.

Also if I use this query in a report it seems to be ignoring the sort parameter from the query.
I am running the report in dynamic mode with no other grouping or sorting parms.

if I used this now in a report it would ignore the sort.
