Hi:
I'm new to OpenOffice.
Issue:
In Writer, I added a long phrase using Tools>AutoCorrect>Replace>
Then wrote in replace field "shortcut" and in With field "This is a very long long repeated phrase", clicked on New, Ok. And tested.
However, when I write the word "shortcut" Writer simply does not replaces anything. It is not working and Enable Word Completion is enabled.
What are we doing wrong? We need the Wordcompletion/Autocorrect features to save lots of hours.
Any clues?
Thanks,
Charles

Re: Autocorrect autocompletion does not work
Do any other replacements work? You can see them on the list--try one of those.
Remember, you have to type the shortcut, and a space following, before the replacement occurs.
You might also check the "master switch": Format > Autoformat > While typing = YES

Re: Autocorrect autocompletion does not work
When creating an autocorrect item, make sure to create either for your particular language or for all languages.
AOO 4.2.0 (of 2015) / LO 7.x / Win 7 / openSUSE Linux Leap 15.4 (64-bit)
Re: Autocorrect autocompletion does not work
Hi!
Ok. The problem was in that i forgot to select the language ALL. Problem solved, thanks a lot.
For sake of others having the same problem:
If you would like to AutoCorrect including ALSO the formatting, you need to select the whole area, ej. a mailing address and then select AutoCorrect and set a replace with. In that way you could REPLACE addressjohn WITH
John F. Kennedy
123 Fish Avenue
New York, NY 10032
In this example if you write addressjohn the AutoCorrect will replace with the address including the returns/enters.
Hope this helps others speed up their work.
