[Solved] Unable to open OOo2.4 after spell checker download
(Solved) Finally figured out my spell checker was not working because I needed to download my language dictionairies on my OS X 10.4 which I thought I did (obviously not correctly). After the download I noticed my "xterm" window had changed from bruce:~writer$ to clgrtnt2-port-251:~writer$ When I tried to reopen OOo I got this message: "Either another instance of OpenOffice.org is accessing your personal settings or your personal settings are locked. Simultaneious access can lead to inconsistencies in your personal settings. Before continuing you should make sure user "writer' closes OpenOffice.org on host 'buce.local" I am 'writer' and I have no idea what is going on. http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... =post&f=17#

I shut down my system last night and when I started up this morning Bruce:~writer$ was back and OOo 2.4 opened as usual but the Open Office.org Document Recovery window opened stating:
"OpenOffice.org 2.4 will start to recover your documents. Depending on the size of the document this process can take some time."
The documents named for recovery were:
"4 dictionary of terms
DicOOo (read -only)"
I started recovery of the first item and after a green check showed up beside "Successfully recovered," a window popped up stating:
"This document contains macros.
Macros may contain viruses. Execution of macros is disabled due to the current macro security setting in Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - Security.
Therefore, some functionality may not be available."
I have administrator capability to change Security Options on bruce. Is this OpenOffice.org security or my Mac (bruce) Security? Does "DicOOo (read-only)," that is second on the list, also contain macros? How safe is this to change the security to allow these macros?

I know it's a quite old thread but have you mmanaged to install your dics?
Yes, DicOOo contains macros and they have to be enabled. See here: [Tutorial] Spell check and Language configuration, especially section 4.

LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 25.2 portable on Windows 11.

I have no idea why but the whole thing works now. It's a good thing, because I was confused, big time (still am). OOo is a wonderful program and I really appreciate everyone's work so that I could use it. Thanks to who ever you are, out there and thanks Hagar for finallyyyyyy getting back to me.
