Automatically is not possible as far as I know.

Manually it is possible. Select paragraph 1-9, Format, Bullets and Numbering, Options, Before, 0.

Thx for answer. Regrettably this adds zero before every number in the list. So the result is 01,02,03~010 instead 01,02,03~10. Even if only paragraph 01~09 is selected.

If it's a simple single-level list, as opposed to an outline list, you can manually insert a variable at the beginning of each item. It's not quite as convenient as the automatic list numbering: you have to copy/paste the variable field, but the list is re-numbered automatically if you insert or delete items, and you get the flexibility of any number format you want.

Interesting... it seems that no one has ever asked for it. That seems strange--this seems like an obvious enhancement, but I can't find any issue filed.

I hear what you're saying, but all you have to do is make the first item. After that, it's just cut & paste. There's no fiddling required beyond that. I only showed you the field codes as a hint of how to set it up.

You can put a sample in the template and just explain that new items are added by cut & paste.

If you want to make it easier, you can define an autotext for a list item and assign a keyboard shortcut to insert it.
