[Solved] DVD/CD Covers & 90 Degree Text?

Post by Composer »

Hello and I have just starting using AOO

I am a Registered Composer of Music!

Is it possible for me to create my own DVD/CD Covers for my Compositions?

Is it possible to Create Special Text to go down the Centre where the DVD/CD Cover folds? i.e. at 90 degress to the Normal Text so that the Title etc. can be read when the DVD/CD is lying Face Down on a flat surface or stored in a DVD/CD rack?

Many thanks to the wonderful people responsible for this FREE Program and to all those who Volunteer to assist answering questions about it!

For this, it is better to use Draw instead of Writer: inserting your text on a text box, you'll be able to rotate it without problems. On Draw will also be easier to insert pictures and other graphical elements.

I usually use Draw when making DVD covers for off-air recordings. It may be worth your while looking at the Templates repository at
http://templates.services.openoffice.org/
Search for DVD.

I normally use Writer for CD/DVD cases, since I want a table for the track list. Not *required* obviously, but handy for info like the times, where you can use number formats to keep everything consistent.

For the rotated text on the spine area, I use a "graphic" text box, created in Writer from the "Drawing" toolbar.

That's terrific news and help thanks!

I'll check out the Templates and see how I go!

I might need to come back about this if I get stuck?

Again thanks to all!
