Lack of updates on PowerPC development

Post by OrganicChemist »

I've noticed there hasn't been a development snapshot for PowerPC for some time, version is currently @ DEV300_m2 while Intel builds are @ DEV300_m7, is there a reason that the builds haven't been released for users to test?

If I recall correctly, there have been some serious problems building for PowerPC's. However, Dev_DEV300_m5 for PowerPC was uploaded to Good-day today, as was Dev_DEV300_m9 for Intel. See<ftp://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/Open ... rg/MacOSX/>.

If you are interested, I got one (unofficial) DEV300_m8 PowerPC here:

http://downloads.anotherhomepage.org/

Click on left: OpenOffice -> PowerPC -> dev300_m8 ... etc

Tomorrow, I'll put an m10 including the new Galaxy iconset :)

Don't forget to backup your files before to test it ;)

For what it's worth, I have the m9 version on my Intel Mac at home, and the M2 version on my PowerPC machine at work, and both are awesome! I haven't noticed differences in the two versions, but I really haven't been looking. Hats off to the aqua development team!

The new DEV300_m10 for PowerPC has the new Galaxy iconset as default, accessibility has been integrated, lot of bigfixes (some crashes e.g. ) are fixed and the speed is better.

Now, if m2 works as expected for you, just backup your files from time to times, until the stable version arrives :-)

Hi Eric,

Yes, I do backup frequently. I just downloaded M8 for PPC. Thanks again for your efforts!
