LO memory usage

When I do a Ctrl - Alt - Delete i get the following numbers.
Are the following numbers out of line?

With Writer open - soffice.bin 106,080k - soffice.exe 2576 - swriter,exe 1876

With Starter Center open - soffice.bin 713321k - soffice.exe 2568

With Quickstarter enabled - soffice.bin 59820k - soffice.exe 2608

With Quickstarter and Writer open soffice.bin 105664k - soffice.exe 2608

I am trying to get LO to open faster without enabling the Quickstarter.

I've never installed the quickstarter and I wonder where you got the swriter process from. The only processes I can see are soffice.bin and soffice.exe. soffices.exe always uses the same amount of memory, roughly 1000 kB. And soffice.bin increases and decreases depending on the documents that I open. But even with an 50 kB .odt open it is still at 36000 kB. But that's for Apache OpenOffice 3.4.

I just tried to get the swriter to show up but I can't.
It must have been some anomaly.

Quickstarter allows the various modules to open quicker otherwise it takes about 20 to 35 seconds to open a blank document after a reboot or a shutdown.

Once it is opens the first time it is quick.

The only way to make OOo more responsive is to start it once and then never quit--just leave it running, then you don't have the long delay in starting up.

And that is precisely what the quickstarter does, just not as conspicuously.

I prefer to do the starting and stopping myself, as that leaves nothing hanging around (and sometimes causing trouble/surprises) when I think it should not be running.
