I'm no beginner but since I really don't know where to post my question, please allow me to post it here.
The problem I'm about to say concerns the newest version 2.4 but also back to 2.3.x, and to all platforms.
OK, the problem:
Take a look at this page:
http://download.openoffice.org/2.4.0/md5sums.html
Here you could see md5 values exist for both Chinese versions for all platforms. However, if you take a look at
http://download.openoffice.org/other.html
you can't see any Chinese version there!?
And if you think it's because these localized versions are to be downloaded from localized websites, well, let's go to
http://zh.openoffice.org/new/index.html
And you could see that the newest version stated there is 2.2.1 !!!
So, the problem is: where are those Chinese versions of OpenOffice 2.4? I mean, you can't have md5 values without the files. Since those md5 values were generated, the corresponding files should exist somewhere. But where?
Can't find Chinese versions but md5 values exist??

Re: Can't find Chinese versions but md5 values exist??
Weird indeed.
For information, I've seen language packs on mirrors (for the RC6 release, but it's the same as final), you can install the English version and then the language pack, that's what I do for my French localization. See here: Change language for user interface (menus & help files).
NB: I move your thread to the Setup & Troubleshouting forum.
BTW, what OS?

LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

Yes, the localized versions and language packs exist for RC6, for example here:
ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/ny1.m ... d/2.4.0rc6
But they just don't exist inside the "stable" directory! Strange! How could they get the md5 values without the files?

Yes, that's really the best thing to do!Hagar de l'Est wrote:you can install the English version and then the language pack
It has the additional advantage that you can also use the English UI, which is especially helpful when either looking for solutions or presenting solutions in the community (to understand or describe the correct menu or dialog items).
That's why I am also working that way with the German version.
