Problems with header/footer when exporting to PDF

Post by tere »

I'm having troubles with proper display of header and footer when exporting a file from .odt to .pdf

Basically everything looks fine in OpenOffice, the header and footer shows fine (both .eps files) - then I use the "Export to PFD" option and save it.
Once I open the saved pdf file in Preview the header/footer are not showing and i get this:
Header - http://cl.ly/2P0W0e313I0y0S3Q3B2O
Header - http://cl.ly/2P0W0e313I0y0S3Q3B2O
Footer - http://cl.ly/0k343V092n3K0V2H2F3S
Footer - http://cl.ly/0k343V092n3K0V2H2F3S
Does anybody know what the problem can be? My friend says it works just fine on his computer, so it has to be something on my side.

I would greatly appreciate any input.

Thanks!

I don't understand: don't you export directly the .odt file?

What if you print it to CutePDFWriter?

Your header/footer are (or contain) eps-format graphics. Eps is not a very dependable graphics format--some systems & software support it well. some not so well and many not at all. OOo has some support for it, but it depends somewhat on help from other software, which may or may not be present on the system where the document is being viewed. And--more to the point--OOo cannot export eps graphics to pdf at all.

You may have better results with a "PDF printer" software, as floris_v suggests, or, LibreOffice may have improved the eps support beyond what OOo has.

Alternately convert your .eps graphic to (say) .png and try that.

Since you are working on a Mac, you have a "PDF printer" built in. If you go to File and choose "Print" and then click on the "PDF" dropdown, you can choose between several PDF options. Does that give you better results?

If you can convert eps to png as RoryOF suggests, that would be your best option.

@ kabing - seriously that idea was brilliant, not sure why i haven't thought of it before as i use that option all the time :P

i will try converting .eps to .png as see if that works longterm.
