Save, when does it not?

Post by cicero28374 »

I have writer 2.3 and know the following happened which is against the law.
I was building a file with text entry and copy/paste and since I thought I had lost a file earlier, I did in fact hit the save function if FILE pull down after each entry of about three lines.
I Saved and closed and closed down the Windows XP2 system and this evening I opened the system, Office Writer and looked for recent documents. There are none within the last two weeks.
If I use Windows Search and look for docs created in last week there are none.
Have I just gone crazy or is there some rhyme or reason to this?
Help please.

How had you created the file? From scratch? or opened from your mail client? When you hit Save as, what is the location proposed? Have you looked here?
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.

I wonder if this might be a system-level problem: are you sure that your system is clean? No viruses, worms, etc? All patches up to date?

Are you sure your system has the right date & time? Maybe the files were saved with the wrong time stamp--check the "Save As" location (as Hagar said), or try a search by file name.

Just my crazy thoughts; obviously OOo does not normally lose files this way.
