Hello hol.sten,
I wrote you a PM some days ago. I was just wondering if you noticed it?

Re: [OT] Message to hol.sten
What about copying the content of the PM into this thread (and change the title to something meaningful that describes the topic)? Maybe someone else has an answer for you. After all this is a user forum. Despite of the fact that I value the input and specific knowledge of hol.sten very much, the important phrase here is community.
OpenOffice 3.1.1 (2.4.3 until October 2009) and LibreOffice 3.3.2 on Windows 2000, AOO 3.4.1 on Windows 7
There are several macro languages in OOo, but none of them is called Visual Basic or VB(A)! Please call it OOo Basic, Star Basic or simply Basic.

Moreover, power user in general usually decline calls for help through private channel since any question can be useful to other users.
Note that you can check if a PM has been read or not. Messages in the Outbox have not been read yet whereas messages in the Sent folder have been read.

Re: [OT] Message to hol.sten
Hello,
first of alI, I agree with both of you and secondly the PM wasn't a personal support question.
I'm a "Volunteer" myself on a german ML. Where a question came up to XML import and later on, on (how) using it XSLT filter with templates. So my question was whether he knows about these kind of templates and would like to respond on the ML - thats all.
Since he didn't respond, I assumed he didn't noticed the message at all (hence this thread). But thanks to Hagar's info, I now know he has read it, but didn't care to respond...

So Calc opens the xml file in question without using the prepared template.Birgit Mannott wrote:Die xml-Datei wird unter Verwendung des Filters als calc-sheet geöffnet, aber die angegebene Dokumentvorlage wird nicht verwendet.
Without knowing anything about the xml data nor the xlst nor the template in question, I'd suggest that Birgit tries to make her template the default template. Even if that would not be the intended solution, it may help to track down the problem. It may not help, since csv files are not loaded into a default template neither.
Problem with mailing lists is that we never ever see any concrete data nor files and code snippets in mail are difficult to read. In this forum you can attach files.

One more thing: This is how I use Base together with Calc. Most of the data I use to analyse come from some type of database server, dBase or plain text. Unfortunately there are no built-in database drivers for XML tables. If the XML data had been exported from some type of database, you may be able to drop the whole XML thing entirely and use the exporting database directly in the spreadsheet.

Re: [Solved] [OT] Message to hol.sten
famo: you see, better post directly in the forum there are other German power users.

Re: [Solved] [OT] Message to hol.sten
I know here are some very skillful people - thats why I asked holsten (and Villeroy for sure is also very skillfull). However, as stated before, me myself is not the person seeking for help...Hagar Delest wrote:famo: you see, better post directly in the forum there are other German power users.
And I mainly wrote the PM to spare me the hassle to transfer/communicate the information between this forum and the ML. Of course Villeroy brings me now into the Bredullje / bedrouille
@Villeroy:
Thanks for your hints, I will post a Link to this thread on the ML, maybe Birgit will answer you.
As stated above, I want to spare me the hassle to work as transfer/-lator whatever, after all this is also my free time.
Just one thing:
Well never is surely exaggerating here, there are dozen of filehosters where you can upload any file and post the link then. The file upload here is limited to a couple of file types and you need to register.Villeroy wrote:Problem with mailing lists is that we never ever see any concrete data nor files and code snippets in mail are difficult to read. I guess both forum and ML has its own dis- /advantages, I like on the ML the fast viewing through topics/threads, the better overview (thread structure), and that I can use (the already known) functions of my mail-program for all that - but of course there are other problems (Netiquette, HTML-Mails, etc.), which you don't have in a forum.
