[Solved] Alphabetical index: p after page number

Post by seemauk »

I am getting an alphabet p after the page number in the index. Have tried deleting the entry and redoing it again but the p keeps appearing. This only happens for one entry all the other entries are fine. Does anybody know why it appears and how to remove it.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Could you upload the file or an extract so that we check (see How to attach a document here)?

The screenshot confirms your report, which we never doubted! We would like to see an actual extract from the original file, where the Index entry for Hourly is defined.

In the definition of the Index, there is an entry "Combine identical entries with p or pp" and you may have this box checked. In fact, I think you should uncheck the entries "Combine with -" and "Case-sensitive". You can get into that screen by right clicking on the Index and selecting Edit Index/Table. Remember then to Right click on the Index and select Update Index/Table.

One can enter an Index Entry (/Insert / Indexes and Tables : Entry) using other key entries - for example, one could Index the word Hagar as Viking and that entry would show up under Viking rather than Hagar. Normally an Index Entry defaults to the word marked;in some cases your words are capitalised, and in others lowercase, which is giving separate entries for those.
