opening openoffice.org2.4

Post by kathyspanier »

I have successfully downloaded OpenOffice.org2.4installationfiles, but don't know how to open this for use. Can you help? It was on the upgrade to 2.4 that caused this problem. Previously I had no trouble with it. Thanks.

Assuming you're using Windows: Did you double-click the downloaded upgrade file to install the upgrade? If yes, did you see a message that the installation was complete and restart your computer? If yes, did you look on the Start menu for shortcuts to start OpenOffice.org 2.4?

I had a similar problem - no desktop icons were created and Open Office 2.4 didn't appear on my "All Programs" list on the XP Start Menu. I finally found the executable files using Windows Explorer: Mine were in

C:/Program Files/ OpenOffice.org 2.4/program

In XP You can right click on:
SBASE
SCALC
SDRAW
SIMPRESS
SOFFICE
SWRITER

and choose Send to Desktop (Create Shortcut) or choose "Pin to Start Menu"

This will allow you to start the programs. I'm still not sure why they don't appear in "All Programs"

good luck!
