JRE is defective
Just downloaded and installed OpenOffice 3.3 on my Windows XP machine. After connecting to a database in BASE, I attempted to use the wizard to create a form. I received an error message that the JRE is defective. I tried to reconnect to the JRE 6 that came with OpenOffice and another that was associated with a different program. Finally I downloaded the current version from Oracle and OpenOffice stills tells me that the JRE is defective. What am I doing wrong?

Re: JRE is defective
OOo will complain about a defective JRE when in fact you haven't told OOo to use Java.
Tools - Options - OpenOffice.org - Java. Make sure that Use a Java runtime environment is checked and that you select a JRE from the list (click the small circle in the leftmost column of that list).

Re: JRE is defective
I'm having the same problem. I definitely have the most recent versions of Open Office and Java installed, but it always says it's defective. When I go into the options and try to add Java, it says it's not installed, and when I try to manually specify the location and navigate to the Java folder, it says there's no Java there. I've tried reinstalling Java, but it doesn't help. Any ideas?

Re: JRE is defective
You need a 32 bits JRE because OOo is 32 bits.
