Still no joy from Report Builder extension

I've been struggling with ORB now since the previous topic ...

I was never convinced the problem was anything approaching a solution even though someone tagged it [solved]

Lets start with some easy BOOLEAN answers from all our readers, whether smart or dumb
1) Has anyone actually managed to get a an ORB 1.2.1 and OO 3.3.0 working at the same time?
2) Has anyone who answered NO to 1) managed to revert either or both to anything that does work?
3) What is a Java Implementation Loader?
4) Is it true it can't be created?

I can answer the first question. I have OOo 3.3.0 with ORB 1.2.1 it worked right away with no problem. I have also installed Oracle Open Office, which comes with ORB included, on a few other systems and have had no problems.

OOo 3.3 needs ORB 1.2.1-rev2 version.

Apology for delay in my response, a result of personal internet connection meltdown

It seems I have been attempting rev2 all along so thanks to R4zoli but as we speak .the problem is still not resolved. Neither was it sorted by a OO reinstall.
RJCC just breezed through it all. He,(she) also mentions Oracle Office. Is that different to a standard OO or just a new name similar to SRB (ORB) and if ORB is internal to ORACLE Office what am I playing at anyhow. Before this post evaporates in cyberland, I'll post first and check later. (because this
editor gives me nightmares)

Oracle OpenOffice downloads from www.openoffice.org. Other OpenOffice variants are supplied by linux distros, also by LibreOffice, neooffice and others.

Just checked. There is no
"create report in design view"
option in reports on my machine. Which I presume means no ORB installed

Please keep the help coming. We're not there yet

Thanks R4zoli but, I hope that's what I already have. ORB 1.2.1(rev2) and OOo 3.3.1 (without internal ORB, both from OOo site.

I did get RJCC's ORACLE Office would I pay $50 or £equiv and what extra benefits (apart from a working ORB) would I get

There is no need for you to buy Oracle Open Office. It is the same as OpenOffice.org except that it comes with some extensions, like ORB, already installed and probably other things like more templates. The code is the same as OOo, as far as I know. You pay for Oracle Open Office because Oracle then provides support. I mentioned it as further examples of OOo 3.3 working with ORB. I was just answering your question

I agree that you don't seem to have ORB installed, since you don't see "Create report in design view". What happens when you try to install it?

I see you have posted while I was writing. I haven't clicked on your link, but I would guess that is not a legitimate OOo site. The real site is www.OpenOffice.org. If your software came from that 2011uk site, then that is probably the whole problem.

I guess it's semi installed. It appears in "extension manager" greyed . When I try to enable it, it gives the" implementation loader" thing and stops.

Delete your User Profile, which will remove all installed extensions, restart OpenOffice and reinstall any extensions you require.

because the profile tab of this page looks to be to do only with IM and ICQ and other similar stuff, little to do with deleting profiles, and none of the other tabs seem to help

The URL I gave definitely works (just checked it again) and gives you the information about what the User Profile does and how to access it.
The link you gave is to your User Control Panel on the Forum, which is nothing to do with your OpenOffice User Profile.

Does the link I posted show up as underlined in blue on your browser? If so, clicking on it should take you to the User Profile tutorial. Otherwise, type it into your browser's address bar and see what happens.

Report Builder error "could not create java implementation loader" fixed by installing Java 1.6.0_17.

This Java version can be downloaded at http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2 ... index.html.

I tried reinstalling OO 3.3.0 with no success. The Java version that I was using when the error occurred is 1.6.0_22.

This fix works on two machines that had failed to run Oracle report builder. Both run Win XP 32 bit on AMD 64 bit machines.

For information: OpenOffice, being 32 bit, needs 32 bit Java to work when it needs Java even if running on a 64 bit Windows with 64 bit Java.
