[Solved] How to modify OOo UI and add or remove toolbars ?

Post by remaille »

Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using?
2.3
What Operating System (version) are you using?
Windows XP Pro or Ubuntu 7.10
What is your question or comment?

Hi,

I think this is a general question about OOo.
I would like to customize the toolbar (Calc mostly) for all my users on my school network.
I succeded (thanks to a OOo mailing list) in making visible some toolbars like "formcontrols". I had to modify the file named CalcWindowState.xcu.

This file is located (on Ubuntu 7.10) inside :
.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/UI (but is is similar on windows)

My matter is to make invisible some toolbars... I would like to hide the text formatting toolbars for example.
Could you tell me what *.xcu files I could modify for that ? Is there a cleaner solution ?
Thanks a lot. :)
Rémi.

PS : I know how to customize toolbars via the UI, i would like to do that definetely for all my computers. It seems that the file file CalcWindowState.xcu is overwritten each time but I can find a solution for that.

What is wrong with the top menu ...View /Toolbars. Toggle them on and off. You can even define a new toolbar there and put into it the items that you want seen.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Yes I know about customizing toolbars from the menu. I would like to modify some config files (I don't know exactly wich ones) in order to cutomize toolbars entirely and for all users using the computer and on the network...
eg, i would like to hide "put font in bold" button on my school network with sending a config file in the proper place.
I don't know if I am enough clear or not.
For example, it could consits in writing/modying a Views.xcu file and copy it on all my machines.
So how to do that and where could I fond documentation about thoses *.xcu files ?
Maybe an easier question "how to hide a toolbar for all users on the computer" wthout having it back after a reboot ?" :-s
Thanks a lot.

I think what you want is documented here in the Administration Guide:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wik ... ing_the_UI
openSUSE 11.4, KDE4.6 with OpenOffice.org 3.3
