Spreadsheet to text

Post by rtvano »

I see many references to converting text to spreadsheet, but none about the opposite. Would like to convert simple 3 column spreadsheet to comma dilineated text with lines separated by paragraph, to be received easily my mobile devices.

Select File -> Save As. In the dialog that appears choose Text CSV from the Save As Type list. You can also select Edit Filter Settings to make sure the file will use the column separator that you want. If you want the file to have an extension other than .csv, uncheck the Automatic File Name Extension box and include the desired extension in the File Name.

csv is plain text. The text editor called "Notepad" opens plain text. Just open the file with whatever text editor you like. There are much better text editors though.
http://csved.sjfrancke.nl/ is a 12MB download and a better csv editor than any spreadsheet program.
