Print a cheque (blank check)

Post by argentum »

I am trying to find a template that will allow me to print a Business Check that I can input my banking information into and have it print blank cheques. I can not find anything in openoffice that will let me do it. Can anyone help me? Thank you. 3's

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your question, but as far as I know, you can't print your own checks. The routing & account numbers are printed in special magnetic ink that allows automated processing. There are probably other requirements for layout, paper, etc.

If you mean that you already have blank checks and you want to print the transaction information on them, then you can do that. I don't know of any templates for it; you may have to do it yourself to make it fit properly on your checks.

However, in my (very limited) experience, it's not worth the trouble. Preparing checks by computer only works well with special supplies and software; using regular personal checks involves too much fiddling around and is too error-prone. But that's just my two cents.

Well, it is comparatively easy to build a database with check details, an input form and a report to print the latest check data with the fields at the right position. Such a semi-professional sulution would take an afternoon of work for someone who can do a little bit more with an office suite (any office suite).

Obviously, you can do everything with some other software while you can not find anything in "openoffice".
1. Why don't you simply use what used to work for you?
2. If you used an MS Word template or something like that, why can't you use the same document in OOo? In case of any problems, this would lead to a concrete question which can be discussed in a productive manner.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Topic closed as it attracts far too many spam posts promoting online cheque writing services.
