I have recently download OOo 3,3 (OOo seems to be the acceptable abbreviation of OpenOffice). I have extensive experience with MS Access therefore, I compared both. My only problem to date is the report module in ooBase. The native wizard is rudimentary and insufficient for my needs. I located and downloaded Oracle Report Builder but it refused to install correctly. I downloaded it to my download folder on my H: drive, used the extension manager to install it and it appeared on the list. When I created a test database to try out the extension the command or wizard was not present even though it was still on the extensions list. I tried to un-install it and it would not un-install. I tried to install it over the existing version and had an error message. Downloading a new copy didn't change anything. Finally I had to remove OOo completely and reinstall it
Since OOo is a very integrated program does anyone know of any tutorials which will permit me to use write or calc as a printable report for a database.
I am looking to adapt several of my MS Access applications to OpenOffice.
Thanks in advance
One small point, I use Windows XP french version and my OpenOffice is in french

						Re: Base reports
Before giving up on the Report Builder, try installing it again then shutdown OOo, including exiting the Quickstarter. You can find the Quickstarter in the system tray on the lower right of the screen. When you restart OOo, the Report Builder should be available.

Re: Base reports [Solved]
As you may have noted I have solved my problem. The problem had nothing to do with OpenOffice. It was due to my situation. I live in rural Quebec and access to Internet
is third world quality. I only have access to a dial-up connection. The problem was in the download time. On the extension download site, it seems that the server resets connections every
10 minutes or so. I tried multiple times but after about ten (10) minutes either I was cut off or an incomplete download was saved. I couldn't get more than 2.9M of the 3.3M of software. I solved the problem by
downloading a download accelerator and with the accelerator, I succeeded in downloading the entire extension file.
It's installed and running. I haven't explorered it yet but I'll get to it. Last night I worked to 4 in the morning studying the forms creation process. I'm using the
e-books at http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wik ... s/Chapters... To date, I do like what I see. I noticed that there isn't an in-depth guide
for OOoBase on this site. All the other modules have except OOoBase...odd?
Thanks to you FJCC for your help. great to know one has help when needed. I followed protocole and inputed [Solved] in my first post.
Again Thanks
