Hi,
So I'm having a problem downloading .docx files. I have a class with tons and tons of equations and they never display properly on my screen. They won't have fractions or the exponents won't show. Any ideas?
Also, I have to type extensive equations using my OpenOffice. Any links to any tutorials or shortcuts on how to make the formula writing process more efficient?
Thanks!

Re: Help a Student!
There is a free Word viewer from Microsoft that should fix your problem reading the docx files.
OpenOffice 4.1 on Windows 10 and Linux Mint

Have a look at: MS Office 2007 OOXML file format (docx, xslx, pptx, ppsx).
If you've to use docx, then use MS Office. It has not been designed to be compatible with anything else.
Perhaps the viewer will work with Wine.

The use of .docx is an appalling choice of format for any document containing objects containing anything produced by equation editor as these are not only not compatible with OOo they are not backward compatible with older versions of of Word, which is why when you save documents in .doc format in Word 2007 it converts all equations to images.
The real solution is to point out the problem to the author of these documents and get them to convert them to .doc or PDF files. Alternately you could try getting the documents converted through one of the on-line document conversion sites such as Zamzar.

Excellent, Thank you. And also, thank you for the edited title!
Yeah, its for my professor and its very difficult to get people to cooperate with what I'm doing. Also, all of our math must be turned in online to her-- and I'll export my documents as a .doc or .docx and she can't read them. How can I create a file that when I export to a .doc she can read??

Well, save as .doc and use the MS Word viewer to check if it has worked.
