I downloaded and installed OOo_2.3.1_Win32Intel_install_en-US.exe from OPenOffice official web site just now. But, one virus scanner software reports that file C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.3\programfile\680mi.dll is a backdoor/win32.agent.ew Troyan!
I do not believe it. But, can I get some info from OpenOffice? What is the function of 680mi.dll in OpenOffice 2.3.1?
Thanks!
OpenOffice.org 2.3 has backdoor/win32.agent.ew Troyan ?

Are you sure of the dll name? No such file in the OOo installation folders on a XP system (and no hit from a Google search). If you want to check the integrity of the installer, check the MD5sum: http://download.openoffice.org/2.3.1/md5sums.html, there is a link to the instructions on top of that page.

Please read the Survival Guide for the forum esp. this post: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... t=166#p718

Which virus scanning software reports the trojan? Occasionally a virus scanning program will misidentify a program as having a virus, this is known as a false positive. (Also see: http://www.8daysaweek.co.uk/forums/view ... tive#p4056)
However, you should also check the md5sum of the file you downloaded and used to install, to ensure that it matches that published on the OOo website: http://download.openoffice.org/2.3.1/md5sums.html If you're not sure how to do this see this link or do a search for "check md5sum".

By "installation folder", I meant the folder where OOo is installed (i.e. \Program Files\...)!James wrote:OP said he had already installed:Hagar de l'Est wrote:No such file in the OOo installation folders on a XP system
