[Issue] How to deactivate footers?
[Issue] How to deactivate footers?
How do you keep footers from automatically being inserted into my document? I inserted a header, but not a footer. Each time I save and close my document a footer has been inserted when I reopen the doc. I manually remove it again and it appears again when I reopen. ???

Re: footers
Headers are not inserted automatically. You have to be doing something that is causing this. If you can attach a sample it would help.lyr123 wrote:How do you keep footers from automatically being inserted into my document? I inserted a header, but not a footer. Re: footers
Select Format / Page, then Header Tab, and check Header On. Now move to Footer Tab, and uncheck Footer On (i.e., no checkmark). Ok out and all should be well. If this doesn't work you should post at least a 2 page document to the forum.

Re: How to deactivate footers?
Your page style may include a footer. Please make sure this isn't the case. To do that, open the Styles and Formatting bar (F11), switch to page styles, right click on the one you're using (you can find that in the status bar next to the page number), click Modify and check what it says in the Organiser.

Re: How to deactivate footers?
Thanks, but I've tried all of the above and the footers are still there; however, the if I save it as an .odt file the footers are not there, if I save is as a .doc file, they are there. I check the page style (default) and the organizer and no footers show. I've written many papers and been using Open Office for over 2 years and only recently started having this trouble. Thanks for any help you can give.

Re: How to deactivate footers?
I do not have a copy of MSO to try on but Go-oo 3.2, OOo3.3RC3 and LibO3.3 Beta2 all do the same thing. Open the file, remove the Footer and save as DOC. Open the file and there is the footer. Safe to ODT and the footer does not come back. A problem in the filter, I would say yes.lyr123 wrote:Thanks, but I've tried all of the above and the footers are still there; however, the if I save it as an .odt file the footers are not there, if I save is as a .doc file, they are there. Time for a bug report.

Re: [Issue] How to deactivate footers?
I have the same exact issue, and have done all the same things, to no avail. Kind of irritating. I don't know why it does this, but it does it regularly.

I don't know why it happens, but one of my professors told me the footers are not visible to her when she views my docs, but I could see them on my end. ???

Weird question maybe, but I'm assuming you put something in the footer, like a page number or something, and it isn't visible to others.
