Seem to have a hiccup of some sort. I can generate the address labels but when I print them they appear in landscape rather than portrait.
I have checked both the page setup and the print setup to verify that they are in portrait - but the darn thing prints landscape.
Any suggestions?
Brad

I assume it looks right on the screen? What about File > Page Preview?
You might try "printing" to a PDF printer--if that works, you could print from that.

Re: Mail Merge address labels print in wrong orientation
It looks fine on the page preview. Printing to a pdf is not really a solution to the problem
Thanks

Re: Mail Merge address labels print in wrong orientation
I am having the exact same problem. It doesn't matter if the labels are created manually, or with merged fields from a database. I have tried all sorts of different size labels, changing the margins of the page, etc. No matter what I do, it prints in landscape. The page preview shows that it is in portrait, and that's how the printer properties are set up. It just won't print that way.
Re: Mail Merge address labels print in wrong orientation
Could someone post a sample file (.odt) that prints wrong?
Don't include personal data (Find/Replace "[a-z]" with "x"; Options/Regular expressions=YES).
I usually figure that if the File > Page Preview display is right, that the problem lies further down the line, e.g. the printer driver. But maybe not. Let's see if what happens if your file is printed from another system.

Here's one. It's just a simple label page I made. No mail merges. I just tried printing it and it went to landscape.

Re: Mail Merge address labels print in wrong orientation
I just printed your document on my Laserjet 4L and it printed in portrait. I noticed that the paper size is set to "user" (8.45" X 10.52") rather than "Letter" ( 8.5 X 11) etc. What size paper and label template are you using? I believe this is a printer settings or paper size issue. What type of printer are you using?

Just opened and printed with no printer adjustments. Prints portrait for me also. HP Officejet 5610 under W2K.
Re: Mail Merge address labels print in wrong orientation
Thanks. Your test document prints portrait for me as well.
If you simply do File > New > Text Document, and add some text and print that, does it print portrait correctly?
The odd page size comes from the standard OO.org label template and the way the labels are laid out. Instead of a complicated grid of frames, they use simple "paragraphs" of frames anchored "As character". I'm not sure why they use the strange page size, but I seem to think it has something to do with getting the frames to layout properly.
