How to convert OpenOffice templates to MS Word?

Post by gatolina »

Hi there,

I need urgently to convert an .ott file to .dot (MS Word template). I've googled and didn't find ANY conversor which does this function. Open Office just allows me to do the other way round (.dot to .ott), and the only conversor which changes archives to .dot is a shareware .doc to .dot conversion that doesn't work on Win7.

Virtual cookies to anyone who can help me. :D

Hi and welcome to the forum!

If you don't have dozens of such templates, just save as the file. Beware that you may lose some bits of formatting since the .doc/.dot filters have been reverse engineered (no specification available until recently). That's why it's safer to always work in native ODF in OOo.

Please add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE Faye) and 24.8 portable on Windows 11.
