Help!
The auto update keeps trying to download the 3.2.1. update every couple of minutes, even if I'm not running OO. It interrupts all other programs, opens an OO website and puts a broken file on my desktop that is displayed as having 0 kb and doesn't do anything (the download is incomplete).
I tried the following countermeasures:
- re-installing OO (no uninstall, though)
- deactivating auto update
Neither of them worked. At this point, I don't care so much about the update but I want my system back. The download disrupts any program that is currently running, including games. It's extremely annoying. I won't post smilies, but you might mentally insert the one that bangs its head against a wall into this post.
Can anyone please help?

Hi and welcome to the forum!
First try to reset your OOo user profile. But during the welcome process, don't transfer your personal data (if you had 2.x), former configuration files might corrupt the new profile.
If no change, I fear you'll need to clean the registry.
During the welcome process, switch off the option to check for updates.
Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

In Tools / Options / OpenOffice.org /Online Updates there are two settings that should be adjusted: Online Update Options should be unchecked _and_ further down that window "Download updates automatically" should be unchecked. OK out, then restart OpenOffice, including the Quickstarter. The easiest and surest way is to reboot your computer.

Both fixes don't work. Auto updates are unchecked (both boxes) and the folder where my user profile is supposed to be located doesn't exist on my machine.

OOo can't run without that profile. Make sure your file browser is configured to show hidden files and folders.

The problem's gone away without any fixing. I'll add "solved" to the thread title.
