[Solved] Can't access doc file I was working on

I was working on a doc file in OpenOffice when I had to close my computer abruptly. When I had an opportunity to get back to it 20 minutes later the computer froze and I had to restart it. When I tried to open the file again in OpenOffice, I was sent to a dialog box entitled ASCII Filter Options. No matter which options I choose it always sends me to an information box that says "Document in Use, Document is locked for editing by: Unknown User. Open the document Read-Only or open a copy of the document for editing." No matter which option I choose it opens up a document with the right number of pages but which only has the character "#" for all those pages.

If there is any way I can recover the actual text in that document it would be very helpful, since I added about 16 pages of writing since my last backup.

I fear it's that one: 22 pages term paper replaced with pound signs.

Have a look at your backup folder (see [Tutorial] The OOo user profile).

NB: you should change your username to avoid your mail address being in clear in the forum (spam bots will soon register it). There is already a Pastor user, please give me (by PM) a proposal not yet used so that I change it.
