i have a Dell Latitude cpx laptop with hi-speed dsl internet connection. Using MOZILLA to open email & download.
os is Windows XP pro (which was prompting me to re-load the origimal CD,to use Excel fully ( but, the cd I do NOT have!)
So, I am trying to install Open Office for the last 4 hours, & have questions...
How many files ARE there?
(It is loading 25 or so of them!)
Most of them FINALLY say "DONE", but I have a few that say "retry"...
One of the error messages says "
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\OOo.23.O_Win_32Intel_installwJRE__en-US(3).exe.part
could not be saved because the source file could not be read. Try later or contact administrator."
In the lengthy process of downloading Open office,
I may HAVE CANCELLED A FILE OR 2 INSTEAD OF SAVing when asked to chose (at about the 10th or 14th file, I thought I may be installing the first part of the same file over & over again)...
All I want to do right now is to be able to fill in info on an excell spreadsheet my boss e-mailed me, so i can get paid on time. I am out of time & patience!
Do I need to delete my first attempt to install & re-install?
How long should that take?
I feel like I must be doing something wrong...please help!
thanks!

Re: Need help installing!
Where are you downloading OpenOffice.org from? If you go to http://www.openoffice.org and download the Windows version, you get it as a single executable file.
Double click on the file once it's done downloading, and it will be unpacked, and the installer should start automatically. Follow the install instructions, and it will be installed. You will find OpenOffice in Start > Programs when the install is complete.
