[Solved] Updates fail

Post by 2udad »

I installed Openoffice about 2 months ago. During the last three weeks I tried selecting Help>Check For Updates. A Check For Updates window opens and responds with a status message, "Checking for an update failed."
My operating system is XP Windows.
I am running Openoffice version 2.3.0
Thanks in advance. :)

Why not just download and install 2.3.1? All the update function does, when it works, is notify you that an update is available. It does not install it for you.

Thanks Caracalla. I may have jumped the gun on this one. When I logged in this evening the update window came up for version 2.3.1. It downloaded the new version to my Desktop folder. From there the install program was activated. Everything seems fine. Now a check for updates results in a message, "OpenOffice.org 2.3 is up to date." OK

There is another issue. Twice I have lost data from a table in the org.base. I had no problem for the first 516 lines but after that as many as a hundred entries have vanished after closing the file.
Any suggestions what may be the cause.

Your new question deserves a separate post and I have done so here.
