Spellchecker lost after upgrade

Can someone please put me back on track. I have just upgraded to the latest version of Open Office and have lost the spellchecker. After the upgrade i checked the settings and it shows English (Australian) which is as it should be. The box is ticked for check spelling whilst typing however is doesn't function. I have used the wizard to download the English (Australian) dictionary and whist it downloaded something there has not been a change to the dictionary list. I suspect that it didn't download because it found the English (Australian) dictionary already loaded.
Can someone please tell what settings I have to change or what procedure i need to follow in order to activate the dictionary.

Please read the Survival guide for the forum first. Also please start a separate thread for new questions. That way the forum can serve as a database where you can find answers to your questions using the search function.

Lots of people seem to have problems with Australian English and Canadian English. Have you read the appropriate tutorials?
