Importing SPSS .sav data to Base

Post by JanC »

I have got data in a SPSS file format .sav and would like to load them in OO Base. Has anyone got experience of the problem? Are there conversion software available?

You can not load any data files "into Base". You always load a configuration file *.odb suffix, the so called "database document".
Every database configuration provides connection parameters to connect, read and possibly write from/to some external database.
Does SPSS provide some ODBC or JDBC driver? Then you could connect Base to a running SPSS and query data from there.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Thank you Villeroy for your comments. I have not got access to the SPSS program and cannot tell if it has got the facility to produce your mentioned file formats. However I have got the data file in question converted by the SPSS program into .exe format which can be read by O.O. To the best of my knowledge the O.O.Base accepted and registered the file. Now I have to learn how to manipulate it.
