[Solved] Beginner needs help with alphabetical table

Post by joytosew »

Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using? 2.3
What Operating System (version) are you using? xp
What is your question or comment? I am trying to make a table of my gardening seeds. I want the names to be in alphabetical order.
It is 5 columns: 1st column has the name, 2nd column has the description. PROBLEM: when I clicked to put the 1st column in alphabetical order, the second column and other columns did not go with it =(.
Now I have alphabetical seeds with incorrect descriptions.

How do I make all the columns move with the correct seed name when I want them alphabetically?

I am new to working with open office and maybe I should be using a different part for what I want?

please help,

[solved] !!
thank you so very much :D
thank you

Select the whole table before sorting it.

Welcome. 8-) You can undo actions that don't work out like you expected by hitting Ctrl+Z. It's a good idea, as long as you aren't really familiar with OOo, to save your work before you do something difficult. Once you're used to saving often, you'll find it's good practice anyway. 8-)
