Freeform line motion path

I have just moved up from ppt and am converting some of my presentations. The power in Impress is amazing. I have added some custom movement using the freeform line but all my lines made with my mouse are pretty crooked. I accidentally got the part where you draw the path to create straight lines, but have tried countless combinations of keys and mouse clicks to recreate that and can't do it. Does anyone have an idea how to get the freeform lines to be straight? Thanks in advance.

Don't use the "freeform line" path--that's almost guaranteed to be crooked. If you want straight line segments, use the "polygon" path: that will only let you draw straight lines. You can hold down shift while you drag to constrain the lines to horizontal or vertical or a 45°angle.
