Please answer the following questions, along with describing your problem or question.
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using:2.3
What Operating System (version) are you using:

Your question: I posted this earlier today, but cannot find it. You can tell...I'm new.
My dilemna: I bought OpenOffice.org for the presentation part of it.
However, all of my MSWord docs are now defaulted and opening in OpenOffice. It has screwed my formatting/macros,etc. all up.
I want MSWord to be my default, not OpenOffice.
Is there away to get my MSWord default back?
Thanks,
bschrag (Hope I can find this later)

Re: OpenOffice default for my docs instead of MSWord
Sure you can fix that .
If you are using Windows XP.
Open File Explorer and go to a directory with any *.doc file.
Right click on the file icon and on the context ( popup ) menu select "Open With" - another menu opens - select "Choose Program".
The Choose Program dialog box is now open -
You will see MS Word as one of the listed applications, select this.
Just below the list is a check box "Always use the selected program...", be sure to put a tick mark in this.
Hit OK
That's it.
If you need to change the file associations for other types *.xls etc, then simply repeat the process for them and pick the correct MSO application.

ps - if you like Impress and keep using it you will want to upgrade to the new releases of OpenOffice.org as they come out - the downloads are always free for this and can be found on the main site http://www.openoffice.org.

You can also try to do it at once, see here: [Solved] Changing all MS file extensions to open in OOo (especially JohnV's post) and uncheck the entries.

If you have a fast internet connection, you can download OOo for free at http://www.openoffice.org. No need to pay.I bought OpenOffice.org for the presentation part of it.
