Pen usage w/OO

Post by bb_sailor »

I'm a new user of Open Office. I have a tablet PC and have used the "pen" to grade student's submissions using MS Word. Can't seem to find a way to do that with OO. Are there exetensions available to support this?

Are you talking about the "digital ink" feature in MS Office? http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... kword.mspx

As far as I can see, there is no option built into OpenOffice.org to do this... at least not in the sense you are using it (I think). I also cannot see an extension that does this (yet).

OpenOffice.org extensions are found here:

yes, thanks for help clarifying my post. The feature used is referred to as "digital ink" - it allows me the ability to "write on" the sutdent's submissions and preserve their document.... I have been able to go "paperless" in the classroom using this feature.

It is an interesting feature. I did some digging in Google on this and found a few 3rd party vendors that provide "digital ink" apps. I have no idea how well they integrate.. if at all. I do not have Windows (moved 100% to Linux on all my computers) so I was not able to test them out with OOo. There was rumors of a digital ink like application for Linux, but I was unable to find anything on it. Seems to have died out... possibly due to the low market penetration of tablet PCs (they are rather rare).
