[Solved] Spacebar

Post by roncan »

I'm puzzled. While trying to write a letter I found that the spacebar would only allow one space between words [i.e. I usually put three spaces between province and postal code on letters]. I'm not sure if this is in the document properties or where to sort this out. Help please. :?

Can you upload a sample file here? If the file is bigger than 128 kB, use a file sharing web site (like mediafire.com).

Well, this is why you can not put 2 consecutive spaces.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Did unchecking it fix the problem?

The wording of the option is incorrect. There is a bug report about this:

Auotocorrect: "Ignore double spaces" - Wrong wording

I thought: no, he must have tried [to uncheck], he can't have missed it! But I'm not so sure now.

Use Control Spacebar instead. This will insert a hard space — then you can insert more than one, and the spacing won't be changed by justification.

Thanks everyone, I was looking so intently that I missed that. It works great now.
