File type dialog disappeared
Hi all .. I'm trying to convert a document created in swriter (.odt) to .doc format .. until now I have been able to do so easily. However, the save as file type has stopped being an option .. Can anyine please help? Does anyone know why this has happened? Thanks in advance, Julian.

Is your file labeled "(read-only)" on the Title Bar? This can happen if you have transferred it via a CD/DVD or sometimes via a USB device.
Exit OOo if so, select the file, Right Click, select Properties and uncheck Read-Only box and OK out. All should now be well.

thanks for the reply Rory. I am speaking about files I make myself. Until now I've had no problem saving as .doc, but now there is no option to save as anything on the file type dialog.

Try resetting your user profile: [Tutorial] The OOo user profile.
If that doesn't help, perhaps a re-install will.
