Open Office Community...
My son created a new document (wrote a great ghost story for a school project to be specific)...however when he tried to open his saved .ODT file, the program asked for a "character set" and none of the sets selected would display anything beside ###### characters. Anyone...please help with this problem would be appreciated......

His document possibly damaged, not so much hope for repairing it.

By any chance, was the document stored on a USB memory stick ("thumb drive")?

What OOo version exactly? Were you working on a USB stick?
