I've got a network with 2 Vista PC's via a router. If a want to open, from the other computer, a file in Openoffice I normaly double click on this file and openoffice starts. Since I use Vista on my computers I only see the very first window of Openoffice and further nothing happens. If I first start Openoffice and click file-open the file wil open.
Is there a way to let Openoffice start if I'm doubleclick the file a want to open.
Thanks in advance,
Loed.
Open file with double clickking (MS Vista)
Re: open with double clickking
First just a quick question. Do you try to double click via a mapped network drive, or just from the network share?

I'm having the same problem. Running with MS XP PRO SP2 and OO 2.3.1
If I go through MS Network Places to any other computer (running MS Windows OS's, 2000 Pro, XP Pro, 2000 Server) and double click on a *.odt, *.doc, *.xls, or any other file type OpenOffice is registered for it will not open the file or even start up.
If I map the drive then everything works. My concern is with mapping drives I may never use again.
If I start, say swriter, then it can open files I select, over the network, from within swriter. Both mapped and unmapped drives.
I am trying to get our company to use OO instead of purchasing more MS licenses, upgrades, etc., but this one single short coming in OO looks bad to our users because they often need to access files across the network. It can be worked around by mapping a lot of drives, but is this a big problem or just something overlooked by the developers?
Does anyone know if this is being addressed or worked on?

Re: open with double clickking
I am not a network expert, but...
Is the share name long? I know some applications (not necessarily OO.o) have problems with long share names. The mapping of the drive shortens the path the application needs to access.
Doesn't solve the problem but something to consider. Is it possible there are some network shares which could be consolidated?
