[Solved] Changing open options for multiple documents

Post by lloyd harding »

Hi:
Using version 3.1.1 on XP
Using laptop with addition monitor

Problem: Have document in window open on monitor. When I open another document:

1) A new window opens on my laptop and contains the new document
2) The window size exceeds my laptop screen and I cannot get to the menus, tool bars, or window corners so I can fit the window to the screen.

What I would like:
Option 1) Set OO so that there is only one window and I access multiple open documents through the window menu
Option 2) Figure out how to resize this window on the laptop when I have no access to the menus, tool bars, or window corners.
Option 3) ??

Thanks much
Lloyd

Rather strange. Try to reset your OOo user profile but don't transfer your personal data during the welcome process (if you had 2.x before), configuration files from the former version might corrupt the new profile.

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.
LibreOffice 25.2 on Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE 7 Gigi) and 25.2 portable on Windows 11.

I don't have XP, but this works with Vista:
  • 1. With the window active, press ALT+SPACEBAR to open the window's system menu.
    2. Select Size on the system menu.
    3. Press and release the UP ARROW key then press and release the LEFT ARROW key to grab the top left corner of the window.
    4. Press the DOWN ARROW and RIGHT ARROW keys to move the corner toward the center of the screen.
    5. Press ENTER to release the corner.

I could not find the user profile at the location indicated in the tutorial so most likely my install is somewhat different.
However, I did find a work around:

If OO is open on my larger monitor opening another file places it on my laptop screen too large to work with.
However, if I keep OO on my laptop opening antother file works fine. At tht point I can just move it to my larger monitor.

Thus I am indicating this issue is resolved. Though this info may help someone else.

Thanks
Lloyd
