Opening attachments in OpenOffice.org Writer

Dear Friends,

I have just loaded open office on my computer and have a question relative to using it with MS Outlook Express. Does anyone know how I can configure writer or outlook to allow me to open my attachments in outlook with writer? Right now, I'm saving them to my documents and opening the attachments from there.

Is the file format set to be opened by OOo? In your Explorer, right click on such file, Open with, select OOo and check the Always use this application option.

Edit: Forgot to tell about what acknak just told below. Open the file directly only if you just want to view it. If any edition is to be expected, save it in your documents area.

Unless you are strictly viewing such attachments, you're better off to save them and open them separately , outside the email application. It is quite easy to lose work when opening attachments from within the email application. E.g., see this thread: Lost Document.
